Writers Abandon Native Language- Why?

Once you're a writer, language is your primary tool, and the general opinion is that you will never be as good in any language as you are in your native language. Most writers feel that it's challenging enough to write extremely well in their native language, let alone attempting it in another. Yet several well-known authors have written in a language that was not their first in many cases and that too not just well, but brilliantly.

These authors have a name: They are called, Exophonic. The word comes from the Greek language. In Greek it means "outside," and in phonic it means ' voice,' and in the United Kingdom, the University of Warwick even offers a course, called "exophonicism or writing outside the Mother's language". Language skills are very important, especially in today's global business environment, certainly stimulating the career of anyone. Many companies are looking at employing people with language skills. With these skills, one can trust to speak, deduce meaning from several messages and share information with other people.

One must establish a few fundamental language skills like listening, reading, speaking, and writing, to be a good and effective Communicator. Breaking these down is productive speaking and writing in which the action of producing language in the second language with the learning process is carried out. There's no need to speak and read, but there's only a need to understand and receive it. So why is writing important?

·         Writing allows individuals to arrange and refine their ideas in the native language

·         Writers receive a blueprint of their thoughts and can manage their progress.

·         It helps a person to remember what they’ve learned.

·         It can also help build unique speech skills.

But even so, why certain authors prefer to use their second language?

1. The Second Language is an Author's Shield.

One’s mother tongue is like a family in which a person is born and the second language in which a person chooses to write and speak. English is the second language, often used and it acts as a shield, removing the hurdles of the inherited mother tongue. The second language helps the author hide because the mother tongue can look personalized. The second language gives the author a fresh start and it thus keeps the mystery away.

2. Writing in the second language is useful because it can be comprehended by the target audience.

If you write in your mother tongue, you'll need to use a lot of complicated words than if you were writing in English. In turn, this will surprise the readers. If one wishes to reach a huge audience for popularity they have to go for a second language.

3. Second language provides empowering content

Writing in a second language makes it possible for writers to make more accurate findings, and this applies mainly to journalistic articles. One can examine different origins of news and learn how it interprets its histories in various languages. Writers also tend to dig into the topic more in a second language than in their native language.  Another interesting thing about second language writing is how different and unique vibrations mother tongues possess. It's inspiring how each language has its unique feeling and humour. Every language has its own opinions and has its thoughts. The forming of every sentence is like a melody.

Although some things can be better expressed by authors in their mother tongue, it is good to write in a second language. This is because English is like a big container of wonderful candies. The big drawback is, however, that it's difficult to go back to the mother tongue once the authors get used to writing in their second language thus causing abandoning of their Mother tongue i.e. Native language.
